Our Divisional Steering Committee
Mandate of the FPInnovations – Pulp and Paper Steering Committee (DSC)
The DSC guides divisional strategy development and implementation, oversees division governance, and supports the FPInnovations Board in its role of leading the forest sector innovation agenda for Canada. The DSC reports directly to the Board and takes strategic guidance from it. The committee is responsible for delivering its mandate as defined by the Board, and is a national body that constitutes the highest level in the FPInnovations – Pulp and Paper member advisory process.
For the purpose of oversight, our research program is divided into five sectors, as indicated below. Each sector has an advisory group, chaired by a DSC member, which acts as a link between the steering committee and the FPInnovations – Pulp and Paper research management. The research directions and issues of each sector are communicated to the steering committee during its regular meetings.
Composition of the Divisional Steering Committee
The President and CEO of FPInnovations and the DSC Chair compose the committee, which includes representatives from the following: the federal government, the provincial governments, industry, the universities, and the Forest Products Association of Canada.
Sector Advisory Groups
The advisory groups review the annual research plan, ensure that their sectors address both short- and long-term industry issues in the most effective way, and advise on possibilities for cross-divisional work. They also sponsor strategic road mapping and scenario planning.
